Quick answer: The last Smelly Findings item depends on which four you already have in TOEM 2. If you have the tin, cheese, trash, and garlic, the missing one is the shoes: look up at the string of lights in the square with the bicycles, where the shoes hang on a line between two rooftops. If you have the tin can, garlic, shoes, and garbage, the missing one is the cheese: it is indoors, in the zone where you climb the highest building to reach the flag, inside a house you can enter.

All five smelly items
Most players find three or four items quickly and then get stuck on the last one, so start by checking which five the smell-shop owner actually wants:

Every item gives off wavy "smelly" lines, which is how you know it counts. One player only realized the shoes were an item after noticing "the smelly vibes from them" on a second look, so scan for those lines rather than for things that simply look dirty.

Compare the four items you have
Open your photos and list what the smell-shop owner has already accepted. If your list is tin, cheese, trash and garlic, you are missing the shoes. If it is tin can, garlic, shoes and garbage, you are missing the cheese.
Ask the smell-shop owner for a hint
Go back to the building with the nose sign and ask for a hint. For the shoes, he says the item is something hanging on a line between two rooftops.
Missing the shoes? Look up in the bicycle square
Walk to the square where the bicycles are parked and look up at the string of lights stretched between the roofs. The shoes hang from that line. Photograph them so the smelly lines are in the shot.
Missing the cheese? Go indoors near the flag
Go to the zone where you had to climb the highest building to touch the flag for the Climbing Challenge. There is a house you can enter there; the cheese is inside, on the desk. Photograph it.
Show all five photos
Return to the smell-shop owner and show him the photos to complete Smelly Findings and earn the stamp.
False leads players reported
A few spots look right but are not the answer:
- The rooftop fan or air conditioner. Two players saw smell lines coming out of a rooftop unit near a seagull and something "glitching through it", but the camera would not focus on it. It is not the missing item.
- The balloons. One player checked the helium balloons after hearing the "hanging between two rooftops" hint; the camera does not focus on them either. The hint means the string of lights in the bicycle square.
- Other trash in town. Only the pile in front of the comedy club counts as the garbage.
If the right object still will not register, check for a game update and restart. During the demo, a player reported that an update fixed the missing last item, and another confirmed finishing the quest after restarting the game. This is a reported fix, not a guaranteed requirement for every player.
Onion or garlic?
Different write-ups describe the fish item differently: one calls it a fish eating an onion, another says the fish is eating garlic. Both players who asked about this quest on Steam listed garlic among the items the smell-shop owner had already accepted, so the fish with garlic is the one you want. The tin is similar: some lists say tin of tuna, others say a can on a roof — it is the tin next to the man wanting coffee.
